What is Kai's Greedy Loop?

Kai is a small pilgrim in a cracked stone mask, and he lives inside a terrarium. His world is a ring of road around a monument, and the road never ends. Odd little creatures sit on it. Run over one and it joins the line that follows Kai, and that line, up to ten long, is everything you have.

The whole game is played with one button. Tap to change lane. Hold, then let go, to dash: Kai throws himself forward head first, breaks whatever stands in his lane, and the creatures he carried fly free around the monument. Setting them free is where your score comes from, and the longer the line you release, the more each creature is worth. A red wall takes a heart and scatters half the line. With no heart left, the next wall takes Kai's head, and the run is over.

Six worlds below one another

Every world has its own road, its own monument and its own music, and the deeper worlds add new ways to die. The Moss Ring is a still circle where you learn to read the road. The Pale Tide is an oval that slowly breathes. The Spore Hollow crosses itself in a figure eight. The Magma Field throws fire onto the road, the Spine is built of bone, and the Tear is the bottom of the world, where the roads above fall as rain. At the end of each world a turning gate closes every lane but one; dash its slabs down, one lane at a time, and Kai falls into the next.

What makes it different

There is no menu in the middle of a run and nothing to manage: only the road, the line behind you and the choice of when to let go. Greed is the whole game. A long line pays far more, and a long line is exactly what one mistake scatters. Outside the glass, something is watching. A great face rises out of the dark, and now and then a hand reaches in and lays a finger across the road.

Every run counts toward a world ranking that names the player directly above you and the points you need to pass them. Your best runs, your place on the ranking and a collection of 55 creatures are kept in one free account that works in the browser, on iPhone, iPad and Android, and on Steam.
